💡 Demo Mode

Without a license key, AntiMatter AV runs in demo mode with limited features. Full scanning, real-time protection, and definition updates require a valid license.

3 Scanning Your Device

Scan Types

Smart Scan

Quick scan of common locations (Downloads, Desktop, Documents, system folders). Uses MTime caching to skip unchanged files.

Full Scan

Comprehensive scan of all drives and mounted volumes. Scans every file regardless of cache. Takes longer but more thorough.

Custom Scan

Select specific folders or files to scan. Useful for checking downloaded files or removable media.

How It Works

  • Files are read in 1KB chunks and hashed using SHA-256
  • Hashes are compared against the local signature database (synced from cloud every 6 hours)
  • If a threat is detected, the file is automatically quarantined (moved and renamed with .infected extension)
  • Scan results show the number of files scanned, threats found, and files quarantined

4 Real-time Protection

Real-time protection monitors your file system continuously for new or modified files. On Windows, this uses OS-native file system watchers. On Android, it monitors the Downloads folder and installed apps.

File Creation

New files are scanned immediately upon creation

File Modification

Modified files trigger an automatic re-scan

Auto Quarantine

Threats are quarantined immediately — user notified via system tray

Status

Green shield = active | Red shield = disabled or expired license

5 Quarantine Management

Quarantined files are isolated in a secure directory and renamed with the .infected extension to prevent execution.

  • View quarantine: Open the Quarantine tab to see all isolated files with threat name and original path
  • Restore: If a file is a false positive, select it and click "Restore" to move it back to its original location
  • Delete: Permanently delete quarantined files to free disk space

6 Firewall & Web Guard

Network Firewall

On Android, the firewall uses a local VPN to filter network traffic. Toggle individual apps to allow or block their internet access.

Web Guard

Blocks access to known malicious URLs. Protects against phishing and malware download sites. Works with all browsers on the device.

7 Parental Controls

Available on Android with the Family plan. Features include:

  • Device Location Tracking: View child's device location on a map via the admin portal
  • App Lock: Lock individual apps with a PIN or password
  • Activity Reports: View app usage, web visits, and scan results via admin portal
  • Content Filtering: Block inappropriate websites and content categories

⚠️ Parental controls require explicit consent from the account holder and GPS/location permission on the child's device.

8 Updates

  • Definition Updates: Automatic every 6 hours via delta updates. Manual sync available in Settings.
  • Application Updates: Download latest version from the Downloads page. Reinstall over existing installation.
  • Rollback: If there are issues with an update, the previous definition version is available via the /api/signatures endpoint.
